Hororata based dairy farmer Tim Mathewson who is feeding his cattle with beet, potatoes, carrots, pit silage and bales, recently upgraded to a Mega Comby X to cut the time it takes to feed out…

Farming 420 hectares, milking 1400 cows on a brand new milking platform, he’s feeding 700kg per cow of supplements. Being close to vege processing plants has the advantage of being able to bring in reject carrots and potatoes to help reduce supplement feed costs. Tim is also supplementing with fodder beet, chopped grass pit silage, round balage bales, square bales of hay and straw, some of which are put into hay racks.

“This machine here can cut us back to 2 loads a day

which is quite a few hours on the tractor”

Tim has had a lot of experience with Comby feeders over the years, and likes the fact that whatever feed is available he can reliably feed it out with the Comby, without having to second guess or put up with hassle of jamming or blocking. His previous Comby would take 4-5 over-loaded loads to do the job, and now with the Mega Comby X, which he can take up to 12 tonnes per load, he’s down to just 2 loads which is saving him hours everyday!

Tim’s Mega Comby will feed close to

1 Million kg each season!
