Building a Jet Engine for his push-bike at just 8 years old… was one of the many inventions that just occurred on the Currie family farm. Needless to say when Russell’s father discovered the contraption, “he tried to pull the hand brake on the idea”
That same inventive gene went on to kick off Hustler Equipment some 60 years ago with that very gene running through 4 generations and creating a thriving global company Head Quartered only a few miles from the original farm in the back blocks of New Zealand
Hustler has grown its business on global demand, by staying at the forefront of an industry where technological developments are constantly emerging and discerning buyers are seeking to improve their efficiencies.
Much of the testing and trialing of new equipment is carried out by end-users in the field, and around the world to ensure that Hustler products meet the demands of a global market.
From humble beginnings on a farm in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand in 1961, steady increase has led to the creation of a global company with exceptional foundations. Hustler builds uniquely engineered, world-class products which are formed from an innovative heritage of ingenuity and combined with a wealth of industry knowledge and experience.

Yes, Hustler’s new X-Series Chainless are the only bale feeders on the market that will reliably feed out any bale! Earlier models of Chainless 2000 and Chainless 4000 struggled with wet, soggy balage or fine cut bales. We recommend with these models to lift the platform higher than usual.
Yes – it doesn’t matter which way the bale is unwinding, a Chainless will feed it out
Yes, the Chainless models are designed specifically for feeding any type of bale round, square, hay, baleage, straw, etc. This is because of the twin drums turning at different speeds, which tease out bales rather than simply unrolling them.
Our SL and SLX model round balefeeders can feed out square bales with the optional sidebar kit fitted, although like all cradle-type feeders they will not feed square bales as well as the specially-designed Chainless range.
Yes, round and square.
Yes, the new Chainless X Series feeders have an optional side chute for troughs and bunks. And our SL-450X is designed to feed into troughs and over fences. This model is unique in that the side extension can be foldedout of the way for transport or to feed over fences. Click here to see the SL-450X.
Bearings. Because bearings, unlike bushes, are silent and don’t flog out when not greased. Bearings well out-last bushes and have much less friction, providing a smooth, free-running operation and require a lot less grease to maintain.
We mount our bearings externally to further prevent hay, silage juice, and straw from causing damage or premature wear, as found with any internally mounted bearing or bush. We use heavy duty, self-aligning, 4 bolt flange bearings with trash shields to withstand the harshest of conditions, even mud!
