Fattening 100% Pure Angus Beef Cattle for Silver fern farms, along with a couple of thousand lambs leads to a busy life for Martin Jones on his 290-hectare farm in Hawkes Bay. Martin purchased his first Hustler some 6 years ago and recently invested in the latest Chainless X2000 bale feeder. Find out what he has to say…

Martin Jones has a full-time operation on his 290-hectare farm we visited in Waipapa, to find out how his Chainless X2000 has benefited him in this year. Martin is running a tight, well-organised operation with trading and fattening around 2000 lambs and 200 or so cattle each year.

Martin switched to Hustler because of the build quality, reliability and ease-of-use having already proven this with a set of Hustler Soft Hands he purchased around 6 years ago. Having had a flawless run with the Softhands, a Chainless bale feeder was high up his priority list when the need came to invest in a bale feeder.

The 3 key benefits Martin appreciates about his new Chainless X2000 are:

  1. How simple and easy to use, reducing the time it takes him to feed out.
  2. Low maintenance with no exposed feed chains to especially in wet weather.
  3. Tight feed out windrows reduce waste and reduce trampling of feed into the ground

“I would highly recommend Hustler to anyone,

the build is very strong”

This was revolutionary for his operation, Martin says his decision was initially based on the strong build of the machine. Having seen how they were built in the factory and was shown around by some friendly faces. He felt like part of the Hustler family.

Since he has been so rapt by his decision in a Chainless bale feeder, his Neighbour caught onto how his operation has changed and the benefits the bale feeder has been providing and wanted in… so we set him up with a Chainless X2000 on his farm too.
