Colin Mathis, farm operations manager of four farms, is getting things done with a Hustler Load Max TX114 Tip Trailer. We meet Colin Mathis in Tokoroa, New Zealand after he and his crew had been using the Hustler Load MaxTX114 tip trailer for upgrading and re- metaling farm tracks. “I went to Cambridge one afternoon, saw the trailer. I said drop it off in the morning and we put it straight to work for a month after that. We moved a mountain of dirt in that time, and it didn’t miss a beat.” The brief for the job was to put new metal on farm tracks and the Hustler Load Max TX114 fitted the bill, plus being versatile enough for any upcoming tasks after that. The size of the LoadMax TX114 meant serious time, labour and, ultimately, money savings for Colin, who states that “three loads of our other old trailer, is one load in the Hustler.”

Tokoroa is a North Island town situated in the South Waikato district of New Zealand. It was established as a forestry town in the early days with radiata pine forests being planted in the 1920s. A pulp and paper mill built in the 1940s attracted workers from different ethnicities and nationalities thereafter. Dairy farming and forestry remain Tokoroa’s main industries until today.

Being a farm operations manager of four farms is busy, hence Colin does a variety of different jobs in one day. He really needed a trailer that does it all and is one hundred percent reliable whilst doing it. The Hustler quality is another benefit for Colin: “The build quality, that’s what everyone likes about it. It hasn’t failed a load yet and we do some big loads.” 13 tonne to 17 tonne digger buckets of rhyolite, a type of volcanic rock, have been dumped onto the LoadMax TX114 and spread onto farm tracks without issues.  “Chocka. It works. Certainly Stable. I’d get another one if we had a tractor to pull it.”

It all started with a couple of old Hustler Chainless trailed bale feeders, that have been in use for 10 years now on Colin’s farm and have fed out an impressive number of bales during their time: “They’ve stood us for a few thousand bales now.” When it was time to upgrade to a new bale feeder, the choice fell again on Hustler. It is operated on hilly farm terrain with big loads. “I haven’t tipped it over yet, still shiny. So yeah, we put it on some big hills, and it gets dragged around. It hasn’t failed a load yet.”
