From Office to Farm, Pip Picks up How To Use Bale Feeder in a Flash

Philippa Joblin used to have an office job for an insurance company in the Hawkes Bay, 3 weeks ago she moved to Ruapuna in the South Island to help her sister and brother in-law on their farm. Find out how she found the Chainless bale feeder after being ‘thrown-in-the-deep-end’

Dave & Beck Whillans run a beef cropping farm with dairy support near Ruapuna in the South Island of New Zealand. Being both a farm owner and senior agribusiness manager with Westpac in Ashburton, means David doesn’t have a lot of time available on the farm, so called in his sister in-law Philippa Joblin to help out on the farm. 

Pip tells us one of her first jobs on the farm was to keep the cattle fed, which meant feeding square balage bales every day to the young bulls and square straw bales in the colder periods to the calves feeding on the kale crops to give them a little extra cover.

Luckily for Pip, Dave had invested in the right gear to make her job easy, having purchased a new Chainless X5000 bale processor in February this year, but Pip didn’t have a lot of experience driving tractors. Not wanting to bother Dave in his busy job, she had to give it a go and had it all figured out in no time by herself, and the cows were kept fed, a real testament to Pip’s give it a go attitude, and the Chainless X5000‘s ease of setup and operation.
