A Giant Hustler GrabMax in a Mini Goat Pen

Welcome back to the picturesque ranch of Mike and Erin, the creators of the ‘Our Wyoming Life‘ YouTube Channel, where no two days are ever quite the same!

For those new to our blog, Hustler has been collaborating with Mike for over three years, testing and refining our products under authentic ‘real ranch conditions’.

This journey began amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic when Lance Paskewitz, Hustler’s Business Development Manager for North America, embarked on a special delivery mission to Gillette, Wyoming. His cargo? The proven and tested trailed Chainless TX205 bale feeder/processor, ready to find its new home.

Since then, Mike (and even Erin) have tested not only this great piece of equipment but also a dozen other machines in our lineup.

In today’s video, Mike decided to put the Hustler GrabMax LX240 grab to the test by emptying the goat pen!

If Mike acknowledges the GrabMax might be a bit of an overkill for the size of the pen, it unquestionably works its way through months of manure piling up. Watch the video, discover the GrabMax in action cleaning out the goat pen, and of course, don’t miss the ranch’s updates on mini pet pig Petunia’s diet!

GrabMax is a versatile front-end loader or skid-steer attachment designed for handling wet materials and is an ideal solution for cleaning up manure or handling bulk corn silage and haylage.

In a previous video you can watch here, Mike explained that the GrabMax is not made for handling fine and dry materials as this grab is made of forged tines and is not a bucket. However, it outperforms a simple farm bucket for heavy wet stuff.

Mike is using the Hustler GrabMax LX240 on his 74-hp Bobcat S630. Just above 8 ft wide, this model is the biggest Hustler can offer and is rather oversized for the Bobcat which seems to be handling it perfectly well. With a pump flow capacity of 23 gal/min, the Bobcat has no problem with the GrabMax’s twin ram split clamp.

Two side containment tines on each side of GrabMax help secure Mike’s manure load and keep the working area clean for a neat pile of compost.

Also, despite its giant size, GrabMax has been designed to be as compact as possible to provide great visibility on the load whether you’re using a tractor or a skid-steer like Mike.

With a short load center, a smaller skid-steer like Mike’s Bobcat can load decent-sized scoops as the constraints on the front axle are reduced.

GrabMax’s unique clamping radius provides a near-perfect clamping curve, which comes in handy when it comes to cleaning the manure right in front of a fence or a wall as Mike does in the goat pen. It allows Mike to break up the pen soil surface and load easily a mix of straw, compost, and dirt.
