New Zealand dairy farmer Beaven Burrows is thrilled with the performance of the three Hustler Chainless TX205 bale feeders he purchased last year. Beaven Burrows’ farm is located near Waimate, a small town in Canterbury, New Zealand situated just inland from the eastern coast. The district is a very productive agricultural area with a mix of pastoral, cropping, dairy farming, fruit and vegetable growing.

There, they run 520 hectares and 1,200 milking dairy cows and also carry 400 head of youngstock.

To feed his herd, Beaven and his team have “three Hustler Chainless TX205 bale feeders bought last year from the Hustler dealer in Timaru,” Beaven explained. “We can’t fault them.”

Beaven bought his first Hustler about 10 years ago and decided last year that it was time for an upgrade since Hustler released new models. “They seem to be more stronger and we are 100% pleased we bought them,” Beaven said.

Having been farming his entire life, Beaven is less and less involved in the daily operations that have been taken over by Lucy, dry stock manager, and by Brent.

According to Lucy, the Hustler Chainless TX205 provides an exceptional ride experience due to its robust design. “Really good strength right through the axles, right through the middle and the inflated tyres at the back makes it a really good ride,” she said. The equipment’s strength is evident throughout! The bale feeder has also a great ground clearance allowing the operator to drive on rugged terrain. With the clean underside of the chassis, there is nothing to damage or get snagged. The tyres provide improved floatation, cushioning, more ground clearance and a larger rolling diameter makes for smoother towing.

“There’s nothing worse than having rubbish lying around the farm. So once you finished doing the bale, you can put it in, and it’s a way, contained,” Lucy said. The Chainless TX205 is equipped with a large capacity string box which is very handy for stowing that bale wrap, fencing standards, and other items while the operator is out and about (this feature is also available but optional on the Chainless TE205).

“Really great with maintenance. All you’ve got to do is a bit of grease and she keeps going forever,” Lucy concluded. Having no troublesome feed chains is a key advantage for reliability, lower maintenance and quieter operation!
