New Zealand dairy farmer Beaven Burrows is thrilled with the performance of the three Hustler Chainless TX205 bale feeders he purchased last year. Feeding out bales has become a hassle-free and efficient process, allowing Beaven and his team to focus on the essential tasks of their farming operation. Watch this video to find out more about what benefits the Hustler Chainless TX205 can bring to your operation!

Beaven Burrows’ farm is located near Waimate, a small town in Canterbury, New Zealand situated just inland from the eastern coast. The district is a very productive agricultural area with a mix of pastoral, cropping, dairy farming, fruit and vegetable growing.

There, they run 520 hectares and 1,200 milking dairy cows and also carry 400 head of youngstock.

To feed his herd, Beaven and his team have “three Hustler Chainless TX205 bale feeders bought last year from the Hustler dealer in Timaru,” Beaven explained. “We can’t fault them.”

The Hustler trailed Chainless range of bale feeders is suitable for feeding out any bale, round or square. The Chainless system is designed for maximising feed use and minimising feed waste by feeding out into narrow windrows to make the feed more accessible to animals – eliminating damage from hoof trampling, manure spoilage, and animals laying down on the feed.

We have three Hustler Chainless TX205 bought last year. We can’t fault them.

Beaven bought his first Hustler about 10 years ago and decided last year that it was time for an upgrade since Hustler released new models. “They seem to be more stronger and we are 100% pleased we bought them,” Beaven said.

Having been farming his entire life, Beaven is less and less involved in the daily operations that have been taken over by Lucy, dry stock manager, and by Brent.

When it comes to feeding out bales for their cows, the Hustler Chainless TX205 in ensuring even and precise distribution. This feature plays a crucial role in maximising the efficiency of feed utilisation, ensuring that every animal has access to the necessary nutrition.

“One of the great benefits that we find with the Hustler TX205 is the way it evenly feeds out the bales when we’re feeding out for the cows,” Lucy said.

The ability to consistently and accurately feed both round and square bales showcases the versatility of the equipment, catering to different feeding requirements on the farm. “The good thing is they not only take round bales, but they also take square bales,” Lucy continued.

“It’s constructed really, really strongly.”

Lucy lauds the robust construction of the Hustler Chainless TX205. The equipment’s exceptional strength provides peace of mind, as it can withstand the rigors of demanding farm environments without compromising performance. This durability translates into reduced downtime and maintenance costs, allowing farmers to focus on their core tasks without interruptions.

“It’s constructed really, really strongly. We’ve had no issues with anything with it,” Lucy said.

A notable feature of the new Hustler Chainless TX205 that the farmer appreciates is Loadial™, the loading tyne position indicator. This intuitive addition allows the operator to monitor the location of the bale while loading and feeding out from the cab.

The Loadial™ gauge/indicator serves as a valuable tool in managing the feeding process, saving time and effort by eliminating the need for constant adjustments or guesswork. “One of the great things that we’ve got on the new Hustler is this gauge where we can see it from the cab and it indicates where your bale is located as you’re trying to feed out,” Lucy commented.

According to Lucy, the Hustler Chainless TX205 provides an exceptional ride experience due to its robust design. “Really good strength right through the axles, right through the middle and the inflated tyres at the back makes it a really good ride,” she said. The equipment’s strength is evident throughout! The bale feeder has also a great ground clearance allowing the operator to drive on rugged terrain. With the clean underside of the chassis, there is nothing to damage or get snagged. The tyres provide improved floatation, cushioning, more ground clearance and a larger rolling diameter makes for smoother towing.

“All you’ve got to do is a bit of grease and she keeps going forever”

“There’s nothing worse than having rubbish lying around the farm. So once you finished doing the bale, you can put it in, and it’s a way, contained,” Lucy said. The Chainless TX205 is equipped with a large capacity string box which is very handy for stowing that bale wrap, fencing standards, and other items while the operator is out and about (this feature is also available but optional on the Chainless TE205).

“Really great with maintenance. All you’ve got to do is a bit of grease and she keeps going forever,” Lucy concluded. Having no troublesome feed chains is a key advantage for reliability, lower maintenance and quieter operation!
