Fifteen years using Hustler gear with no intention to “move away at all in the future”

Kevin Rhind from Buln Buln, Australia bought his first Hustler bale unroller some 15 years ago and has never moved away from the Hustler brand since! Watch his video testimonial to discover why.

Kevin Rhind is farm manager for Ned Braithwaite near Buln Buln, a small town in West Gippsland, Australia.

The region consists of a mix of flat terrain and low rolling hills, to the north these hills become steeper as they merge into the Great Dividing Range. Relatively fertile, the lowland areas are mainly given over to dairy farming, but Kevin works on a beef operation, running 400-500 heads of Angus cattle, mainly steers and a hundred-odd breeding cows.

Kevin is “supposedly semi-retired to retired” like he said himself, but still has the bug as he has been farming his whole life.

The farm is split in two blocks, the main one and another one about six kilometres down the road.

This year, Kevin fed out 300 or 400 bales of silage on both locations in wintertime. He uses a Hustler trailed Unrolla TX205 bale feeder. Kevin is quite familiar with the Hustler brand as he has been using Hustler gear for the last 15 years.

Kevin discovered the brand Hustler when he went to the National Agricultural Fieldays in New Zealand some 18 years ago. The National Agricultural Fieldays is an annual national agricultural show and field day event held in mid-June each year near Hamilton, New Zealand. It styles itself as “the biggest agricultural trade show in the southern hemisphere” and it is quite common for Australian farmers to cross the Tasman Sea to attend the show. When Kevin came back to Australia, he immediately bought a Hustler machine as soon as it became available in his country.

And Kevin has never worked without Hustler gear around ever since.

“It’s good because we can carry three bales at a time, on the front and on the back”

Kevin chose a trailed version of the famous Unrolla bale feeder model as he “can carry three bales at a time, on the front and on the back and so we’re not traveling backward and forwards to the to the silage heap all the time,” Kevin detailed.

“It’s a very simple, easy machine to use and since I’ve had it, I have had no necessity to think about changing brands of machinery”

So Kevin has been a loyal Hustler customer for 15 years, and has spread the news to friends and neighbours the whole time. About his neighbours, Kevin said, “They all use them now, so that’s a pretty good omen for them really. I think.”

“I don’t think that we’ll move away at all in the near future or distant future on these farms from Hustler Equipment”

“I think because we’re satisfied with what the product that we’ve got. I’d recommend Hustler – and I have done over the years to a lot of neighbours and friends – and I’d prefer to use that than any other ones that I’ve had. So yeah, I’d recommend it to anybody,” Kevin concluded.

The Unrolla trailed bale feeder range in a nutshell

Suitable for feeding out the widest variety of round bales, balage, silage, hay or straw. With a unique chassis design protects the vital components, patented Total Control self-loading system and the toughest chain/floor set up on the market. Designed for medium to large operations feeding out thousands of bales each year, the Trailed Bale Unrollers have covered driveshafts to eliminate wrapping and a stronger rear loading system design that is built extremely tough to go the distance.

6 key benefits of the Unrolla TX205 bale unroller

Easy to use

The double bale feeder has single-level feed control, making it very easy to use and ideal for share milkers.

Toughest chains on the market

Super strong roller chains with a combined strength of 24,000lbs, with tough 40mm x 40mm zinc-plated bars. Bars are bolted to the chain, a stronger and more easily replaceable system.

Tough polyethylene floor

Non-corrosive, impervious to UV, slippery, easily repairable and very shock resistant. Fully enclosed – no wastage of expensive feed. The long bed can take 5’ long bales.

Low maintenance

Instead of bushes we use longer-lasting block bearings, mounted outboard, to keep them clean and free of damage.

Unique chassis design

The trailed Unrolla models are built with plenty of ground clearance to minimise bellying out and to avoid damage to chains and feed bars when it does touch the ground. The underside of the chassis is smooth, so it slides until the wheels gain traction again. Impressive strength to weight ratio has been achieved by constructing the machines from high tensile steel, which is 50% stronger than mild steel. Bolted construction eliminates stress cracking common with some conventional Bale Feeders.

Total Control Loading system

With just one hydraulic cylinder to complete the entire loading operation and a new gas strut to help reset the loader, the Hustler self-loading system is the fastest loading system out there. With only one ram it’s safer and less demanding on your tractor’s hydraulics. Unlike other systems, the operator can reverse the bale if necessary, even once the bale is positioned low over the cradle for unwrapping.
